Obama Health Plan Reviewed in 4 Minutes

I think there are definite pros and cons to this, and one can’t fix what’s been broken for decades in a few minutes.  But, I think everyone would agree that we need to move forward and actively address these issues.  For those that have been confused, this is a BRIEF video overview (move mouse over image) of the main points of the Obama Health Plan.  See what YOU think, read my thoughts below and please, comment !!

You can find the ENTIRE plan at Whitehouse.gov

As a backdrop, the World Health Organization last published health systems international rank back in 2000, and this was highly quoted in Sicko (…the movie). The US system came in at #37 out of 190. Respectable, but not great since we spend the most money per capita. On the other hand, despite major issues on an individual basis (i.e. EVERYONE has a “story” about something) consumer satisfaction is ranked pretty high in the US. Many of the “top” countries have quotas and a long waiting time for elective surgery (including things like hip replacement). In other words, despite arguments from any possible political position, the grass is always greener on the other side given any specific issue.

Anyway, clearly we can improve. How is the question?

How about this? Should taking personal responsibility for health be a priority (i.e. eating healthy and exercise and natural prevention vs. coming in after years of abuse and asking ANY “system” to fix the problem/disease)? Should that maybe affect your personal co-pays for certain situations?

How about exploration of less expensive natural remedies to get BACK into a health condition? The latter is not always possible for some lethal diseases, but may not hurt when used in a thoughtful integrative medicine approach.
